A health care official in Washington, D.C., claims she split up with her husband, a political marketing consultant, right after he told her “he was romantically associated with and in adore with” Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), in accordance to divorce papers filed Tuesday.
Beth Mynett, the medical director and overall health solutions administrator for D.C.’s Department of Corrections, stated she and Tim Mynett, a spouse at progressive political consulting agency E Street Group, separated in April, just after he produced a “devastating and stunning declaration of love” for Omar.
The divorce papers, submitted in D.C. Exceptional Court, were first claimed by the New York Post.
A spokesperson for Omar declined HuffPost’s ask for for remark. In a assertion, E Street Team mentioned that it “does not remark on the personalized everyday living of possibly our team or purchasers.”
Omar has regularly been issue to racist, sexist and Islamophobic attacks — together with demise threats — as effectively as scrutiny relating to her personalized daily life. She declined to comment on the subject in an interview Tuesday with Minneapolis’ CBS affiliate WCCO.
When requested about the alleged affair and if she was “separated” from her own husband and “dating any person,” Omar explained: “No, I am not. … I have no fascination in enabling the discussion about my particular everyday living to keep on and so I have no wish to discuss it.”
In her divorce filing, Beth Mynett claimed that Tim Mynett met Omar even though performing as a guide on her 2018 congressional campaign. According to Federal Election Committee filings, Omar’s campaign paid out Mynett and E Road Group about $230,000 for consulting and other bills among August 2018 and this past June.
Beth Mynett alleged that Tim Mynett’s “more current travel and extended perform hrs now show up to be more linked to his affair with Rep. Omar than with his true get the job done commitments.”
She also claimed that Tim Mynett set their 13-calendar year-outdated son “in harm’s way by getting him out in general public with Rep. Omar, who at that time had garnered a plethora of media attention alongside with demise threats.”
